The XROS range’s big selling point is its pods. Vaporesso designs every XROS device around the same pod shape, so choosing a device is mostly about battery, screen and size, and choosing a pod is what actually changes how it vapes. This guide covers which pods fit which device (including the one exception most guides miss), what each resistance feels like, how long pods typically last, and how to get more out of each one.

The short version

  • 0.6Ω, 0.7Ω, 0.8Ω, 1.0Ω and 1.2Ω pods fit every XROS device, from the original XROS to the XROS 6.
  • 0.4Ω pods only work in newer models: XROS 4, 4 Mini, 4 Nano, Pro, Pro 2, 5, 5 Mini, 6 and 6 Mini.
  • Higher resistance = tighter, cooler mouth-to-lung draw. Lower resistance = looser, warmer, more vapour.
  • XROS coils are built into the pod. When the coil is done, you replace the whole pod.
  • There’s no fixed lifespan: liquid, power and habits matter far more than the pod itself.

Which XROS pods fit which device?

Vaporesso describes its current devices, including the XROS 6 and XROS PRO 2, as compatible with the entire XROS pod series. That’s true for current models, but older devices can’t run the lowest-resistance pod.

Pod Works in
0.6Ω, 0.7Ω, 0.8Ω, 1.0Ω, 1.2Ω Every XROS device: XROS, XROS 2, XROS Mini, XROS Nano, XROS 3, 3 Mini, 3 Nano, XROS Cube, XROS 4, 4 Mini, 4 Nano, XROS Pro, Pro 2, XROS 5, 5 Mini, XROS 6, 6 Mini
0.4Ω Newer models only: XROS 4, 4 Mini, 4 Nano, XROS Pro, Pro 2, XROS 5, 5 Mini, XROS 6, 6 Mini

If you own an older XROS and want a looser draw, the 0.6Ω pod is the lowest you can go.

Not compatible

ECO NANO pods are a separate system. The ECO NANO PLUS does not take XROS pods, and XROS devices don’t take ECO NANO pods.

2ml or 3ml?

XROS pods come in 3ml versions and 2ml versions for regions that follow the EU Tobacco Products Directive (TPD), including the UK. The shape and fit are the same; only the tank size differs. In the US you’ll normally find 3ml pods.

The pod line-up, explained

Current XROS pods use Vaporesso’s COREX mesh coils in a range of resistances. Most XROS devices read the pod’s resistance and set the power for you, so swapping pods really does change the experience without touching a menu. Some models go further: Vaporesso says the XROS PRO 2 offers ECO, Normal and Power modes and, with its 0.4Ω and 0.6Ω pods, fine power adjustment in 0.5W steps.

Pod Draw Feels like Usually paired with
1.2Ω Tightest MTL Closest to a cigarette draw; cooler vapour Nicotine salts; longest battery life per charge
1.0Ω Tight MTL Slightly warmer than 1.2Ω Nicotine salts; everyday MTL
0.8Ω Classic MTL The “default” XROS experience Nicotine salts or freebase
0.7Ω MTL leaning looser A half-step between 0.8Ω and 0.6Ω Either
0.6Ω Loose MTL / light RDL Warmer, more vapour Lower-strength salts or freebase
0.4Ω Restricted lung (RDL) Most vapour, warmest Lower-strength freebase

Lower resistance generally means more power, more vapour, and faster battery and liquid use. If the terms are new, start with MTL vs DTL (and RDL). For how nicotine type fits in, see nicotine salt vs freebase.

Which resistance should you choose?

  • Coming from cigarettes or disposables and want a tight, familiar draw: start at 1.0Ω or 1.2Ω.
  • Want the classic XROS feel: 0.8Ω is the middle of the range for a reason.
  • Want more vapour without a big device: 0.6Ω, or 0.4Ω on a compatible model. Most people use lower-strength liquid at these resistances because the vapour is denser.
  • Battery life matters most: higher resistance draws less power, so the same battery lasts longer.

Because all the pods fit (apart from 0.4Ω on older devices), the cheapest way to find your preference is to try two neighbouring resistances rather than buying a new device.

How long do XROS pods last?

There’s no fixed number, and Vaporesso doesn’t publish a single lifespan. Real-world reports range from several days for heavy users of sweet liquids to a couple of weeks or more for lighter users of clear or simple flavours. These factors matter most:

  • Liquid. Sweet, dark and creamy liquids leave residue on the coil and shorten its life fastest.
  • Resistance and power. Lower-resistance pods run hotter and work harder.
  • Habits. Chain vaping and letting the pod run low both stress the wick.
  • Priming. A pod that’s vaped before the cotton is soaked can be damaged on the first puff.

How to make XROS pods last longer

  1. Prime every new pod: fill it, then wait several minutes before the first puff. The XROS 6 has a feature Vaporesso calls “60s Smart Prime” to help new pods saturate; even so, letting a fresh pod soak before the first puff is good practice.
  2. Keep it topped up. Don’t let the liquid fall below the wicking holes.
  3. Leave a few seconds between puffs so the cotton can re-soak.
  4. Use clearer, less sweet liquids if lifespan matters more to you than a particular flavour.
  5. Wipe condensation from the pod base and contacts regularly. See how to clean a vape.

How to fill an XROS pod

Current XROS pods are top-fill: pull the pod out, lift the rubber filling plug, and fill down the side of the pod rather than straight down the centre tube. Leave a small air gap at the top, push the plug back in firmly, and wipe away any spills before putting the pod back.

Common XROS pod problems

  • Leaking from the bottom: usually overfilling, a loose plug, or a pod reaching the end of its life. See why is my vape leaking?
  • Gurgling or spitting: too much liquid in the airway. Remove the pod, blow through it into a tissue, and take slower draws.
  • Burnt or muted taste: an unprimed pod or a coil at the end of its life. See why does my coil taste burnt?
  • Device not firing or flashing: clean and dry the gold contacts on the pod and inside the device, then reseat the pod. See why is my vape blinking? and vape not hitting?

When to replace a pod

Replace it when you notice a burnt or muted taste, noticeably less vapour, or gurgling and leaking that cleaning doesn’t fix. Because the coil is built in, there’s nothing to swap inside the pod: the whole pod goes.

FAQ

Do XROS pods fit the ECO NANO or ECO NANO PLUS?

No. ECO NANO uses its own pods, and neither system fits the other.

Can I use a 0.4Ω pod in an XROS 3 or XROS Mini?

No. The 0.4Ω pod is only supported on the XROS 4 family and newer (including the Pro, Pro 2, 5 and 6 families). Use 0.6Ω for the loosest draw on older models.

Do XROS pods have replaceable coils?

No. The coil is built into the pod, so you replace the pod when the coil wears out.

Are 2ml and 3ml XROS pods interchangeable?

Yes. They fit the same devices; only the capacity differs because of regional rules.

Are third-party “XROS-compatible” pods worth it?

We haven’t tested them. If you buy genuine Vaporesso pods, check the authenticity code on the packaging on Vaporesso’s own website.
