What we collect

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, what device and browser they use, and which links are clicked (including outbound and affiliate links). Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) in your browser. We have turned off Google’s optional data-sharing settings, and Google processes this data on our behalf under its Data Processing Terms. You can opt out at any time below.

Article view counts

To show which articles are popular, the site counts article views on our own server. This count is anonymous: it stores no cookies, no IP address and no identifier — just a number per article.

Newsletter

If you subscribe, we store your email address and the page where you signed up. If we later move the newsletter to an email service provider, your address will be transferred to that provider and this policy will be updated to name them.

Contact and product-submission forms

If you contact us, we store what you send (such as your name, email, company and message) so we can reply, and we email a copy to the relevant editorial desk.

Age confirmation

When you confirm you are of legal age, we set a small cookie (vd_age) for 30 days so we don’t ask again.

Preferences stored in your browser

We remember whether you’ve dismissed the newsletter prompt (in your browser’s local storage) and whether you’ve opted out of analytics (cookie vd_noga). These never leave your device.

Third-party content

• Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser connects to Google’s servers.
• Videos from YouTube (privacy-enhanced mode) or Vimeo only load after you click play.
• Share buttons are plain links; nothing loads from X, Facebook or Reddit until you click one.
• Affiliate links go via a short /go/ address on our site that counts the click, then send you to the retailer, whose own privacy policy applies.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard technical logs (such as IP address and browser type) for security and reliability.

Why we use it

To run and secure the website, understand what readers find useful, reply to messages, send the newsletter you asked for, and measure affiliate and advertising performance in aggregate.

How long we keep it

Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in Google Analytics. Newsletter subscribers are kept until you unsubscribe. Messages are kept as long as needed to deal with them and then deleted periodically.

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or object to the use of your personal data, and to complain to a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact vapersdiary00@gmail.com. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
