“No Atomizer” or “Check Atomizer” Error? What It Means and How to Fix It
Your mod can't detect a usable coil. Here is what triggers the message, what "Atomizer Short" means, and how to fix both.

“No Atomizer” (or “Check Atomizer”) means your mod can’t detect a usable coil. It isn’t telling you the mod is broken — it’s telling you the electrical path from the mod to the coil isn’t working, or the resistance it reads is outside what it accepts.
Fix it in this order
- Unscrew the tank and screw it back on — firmly, but not overtightened.
- Check the coil is pushed fully into the tank base.
- Wipe the 510 connection on the mod and the base of the tank.
- Try a different coil.
- Try a different tank, if you have one.
What triggers the message
- No coil detected: the tank or coil isn’t making contact.
- Resistance too high: a broken coil, or a reading above the mod’s limit. Geekvape’s Aegis Legend manual, for example, says the no-atomizer prompt appears when no atomizer is connected or the resistance is 2.2Ω or higher.
- Dirt or liquid on the 510 pin or threads.
What “Atomizer Short” means
The opposite problem: the resistance reads too low — typically a damaged coil or something bridging the contacts. The same Geekvape manual triggers its short-circuit prompt at 0.08Ω or below. Remove the tank, dry everything, and try a new coil. Never keep firing a device that reports a short.
Step by step
- Reseat the tank. Unscrew it and screw it back on. Too loose and it won’t connect; overtightened can damage the 510 pin.
- Reseat the coil. Most push-fit coils need a firm push to seat fully. On the VOOPOO DRAG 6, see how to change the DRAG 6 coil.
- Clean the connection. Wipe the mod’s 510 connector and the tank base with a dry tissue or cotton bud.
- Check the 510 pin. If the centre pin on the mod sits very low, it may not touch the tank. This is a hardware issue — contact the manufacturer or retailer rather than prying at it.
- Swap the coil. New coils occasionally arrive faulty.
- Swap the tank. If another tank works, the problem is the tank, not the mod.
Rebuildables
On RBA decks and boro bridges, the usual culprits are a loose post screw, a leg touching the deck (a short), or a coil reading outside the mod’s range. Re-check your build and its resistance. New to rebuildables? See what is a boro mod?
