This isn’t a scare piece. It’s a short list of habits worth building. Always follow your device manufacturer’s instructions first.

For all devices

  • Use a suitable cable and charger, and avoid charging unattended or overnight.
  • Don’t charge or use a device that is damaged, swollen or unusually hot.
  • Keep devices out of extreme heat — like a car dashboard in summer.

Device flashing at you? Here’s what the blinking means.

For removable batteries

  • Inspect wraps regularly. Torn wraps should be re-wrapped or the battery replaced.
  • Never carry loose batteries in a pocket with keys or coins — use a case.
  • Use batteries from reputable sources, as recommended by your device manufacturer.
Travel

Rules for carrying vapes and batteries on flights vary by airline and country. Check before you fly — see our travel checklist.
